Willenhall Town and Wolves fans are today in mourning following the death of Barry Stobart aged 75.

It was Stobart’s appearance in the 1960 final which etched him into a Molineux legend as he replaced the more established Bobby Mason and played a key role in Wolves 3-0 victory.

Later Barry took over as manager at Willenhall Town and was in charge during their most successful era, including their Wembley appearance in the FA Vase.

The club's thoughts are with his family.

From our archives;
Barry Stobart - Willenhall Town boss - 1976-1983
Barry Stobart took over for the start of season 76/77, succeeding Peter Clarke. At that time, we were in the infancy of our West Midlands League days, and Barry was to lead us on countless Vase runs, culminating in Wembley in 1981. He also led us to our only appearance in the FA Cup proper, at home to Crewe later in '81. There was also the small matter of the West Midlands League title, and a League Cup success. All this laid on Clarke's sound groundwork previously. He led us into the Southern League for season 82/83, before resigning early in 83, when we still had a chance of promotion. There was always a real bond between manager and players, not to mention players and supporters.
